Course Description
Overview:
You designed and implemented desktop infrastructure. As business operations expand, it is important for the organization to design, deploy, and manage an effective Windows Server 2012 desktop application infrastructure. You need to use several desktop infrastructure implementation methodologies to be able to design and manage a physical or virtual Windows desktop application management infrastructure. To meet these requirements, you will create a desktop application environment by planning the enterprise desktop application environment and preparing the environment for application distribution.
You will also deploy desktop application using Group Policy and Windows Intune to quickly deploy desktop applications in the organizational network. To centrally manage application deployments and secure the applications from unauthorized access, you will configure SCCM for application deployment and deploy applications using SCCM. In addition to these tasks, you will deploy self-service portals, administer presentation virtualization infrastructure, manage remote applications, deploy application virtualization using App-V, configure high availability for App-V and application virtualization, manage application updates, and troubleshoot application compatibility issues to create a centralized and secured environment for desktop applications. By familiarizing yourself with these tasks, you can plan and implement an effective desktop application environment that suits the requirements of your business. In this course, you will implement a desktop application environment.

Target Student:
This course is designed for IT professionals who have desktop administration experience and have worked with previous versions of Windows Server Operating systems. It is also meant for support technicians who want to gain the skills and knowledge required to design, deploy, and manage Windows 8 applications in a Windows Server 2012 desktop infrastructure. This will enable them to carry out advanced management and provisioning of services at the enterprise level.
This course helps you to prepare for the 70-416: Implementing Desktop Application Environments exam. This course is also the second in the series of two courses (after 70-415: Implementing a Desktop Infrastructure) that help you to prepare for MCSE: Desktop Infrastructure certification.
Prerequisites:
To ensure your success in this course, you should have experience in administering Windows Server, supporting Windows 8 client desktops, and deploying and managing both physical and virtual applications. They must either possess an MCSA certification or have equivalent knowledge.
In addition to their professional experience, students who attend this training should already possess the following technical knowledge, and should:
- Have sound knowledge of TCP/IP and networking concepts.
- Have a sound knowledge of Windows and Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS), namely, domain user accounts, domain vs. local user accounts, user profiles, and group membership.
- Have the knowledge to use scripts and batch files.
- Have sound knowledge of security concepts such as authentication and authorization.
- Be able to handle Windows specific tasks, such as performing a clean installation of Windows 8, upgrading to Windows 8, and migrating user-related data and settings from Windows XP.
- Be able to handle administrative tasks such as configuring disks, partitions, volumes, and device drivers to enable Windows 8 to function as desired.
- Be able to handle advanced tasks such as configuring and troubleshooting permissions and other settings to allow access to resources and applications on Windows 8 Systems.
- Be able to handle network configuration settings to enable connectivity.
- Be able to handle configuring and troubleshooting a wireless network connection.
