Project Management Professional (PMP) Exam Preparation / Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)

20 STUDENTS ENROLLED

Objective

Major corporations are adopting A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) 5th Edition, from the Project Management Institute, and the related Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification, as the primary sources of competency in the field of Project Management.

Market research indicates that employers want to hire project management practitioners who have real experience leading and directing projects. To better meet this need, PMI is incorporating in the certification application process the requirement to document experience leading and directing the various tasks required in effective project management. In addition, PMI is placing increased emphasis on situational questions in the testing process for the PMP Certification to better evaluate applicant skill in actually using their PMBOK® Guide knowledge.  This has made the PMP Certification test harder than it was in the past, and increases the value of preparation course work prior to taking the test.  This course, along with the review of materials and repeated practice testing, will more than adequately prepare students to take the PMP Certification Exam. For those individuals whose experience does not qualify them to take the PMP Certification Exam, this course will amply prepare them to sit for the CAPM Certification Exam.

Target Audience

Project Managers and Team Leaders who would like to adequately prepare for the PMP certification exam and those Team Members or students who cannot qualify to sit for the PMP Exam and would like to earn a CAPM credential.  Participants will review all PMBOK® Guide Knowledge Areas and will be presented with practice quizzes and a final practice exam in this very thorough and highly successful course.

Requirements

No prerequisite course.  You will need access to a copy of the PMBOK® Guide Fifth Edition, which is available as a download from the PMI website (www.pmi.org) for PMI members, or may be purchased in hardcopy from the PMI Bookstore on the website, or in most major bookstores, including on-line bookstores.

What am I going to get from this course?

The PMBOK® Guide only summarizes or lists Project Management framework and context topics in Chapters 1 and 2.  The entire book is basically a reference book for the PMI project management standard.  It is not oriented toward learning the material.  For this reason, the class covers each framework, context, standard, and knowledge area topic in detail with information from the source reference materials used to create the exam.  General knowledge that the project manager is expected to know through experience and prior training is covered, so that the course is comprehensive in preparing you to take the test.
